Spots, pimples, zits, blemishes, life-ruiners… whatever you call them, these unwanted pesky bumps have the habit of popping up at the most inconvenient time and making us feel pretty rubbish! So, when a pimple or a blemish makes an untimely appearance, making it as inconspicuous as possible is the number one priority! Don’t make the mistake of many by trying to hide with layers of foundation – in fact, less is more when it comes to the perfect cover up.
Follow our simple steps to learn how to conceal a blemish the right way and achieve that flawless complexion.
Apply a moisturising primer (Anti-ageing Face Primer, £25.99) all over a cleansed face - even over blemishes. When spots dry out, make-up can cling to them and leave the area of skin looking flaky and more noticeable. A good moisturising face primer will prevent this from happening and will also ensure your coverage lasts all day.
Choose a concealer that matches your skin tone as closely as possible. To give the illusion of a flawless, smooth, blemish free complexion, you need to blend the pimple with your skin to make it look the same colour. AmazingConcealer®, £19.50 is your save the day solution. Its highly concentrated formulation means just the smallest amount of product is needed to erase any skin imperfections.
Set it and forget it – the final stage to magically erasing your blemish is to set it with a good setting powder. Lightly dust powder (Velvet Mineral® Powderset, £20.99) all over your face including the blemish to ensure a long lasting make-up look. Velvet Mineral® Powderset will also eliminate any shine making that pesky blemish even less noticeable.
What does your spot mean?
Spots can appear on the face for a multitude of reasons – a change in skincare or diet, hormones – the list goes on. However, paying attention to where they appear can help to identify the cause and the best remedy…
Forehead – spots on the forehead tend to be diet related. Try to cut out heavily processed and fatty foods from your diet. Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables to improve clarity of skin.
This can often be a problem for girls with full fringes too due to the build-up of excess oils. Keep your fringe off your face when sleeping and working out to combat this.
The Nose – pimples here are often the result of high levels of stress. So, make a conscious effort to have some me time every day - even if it’s just 30 minutes reading your favourite book, or a relaxing bath to de-stress and reflect on your day.
Chin, Jawline and Neck –Spots here tend to be caused by hormones, which makes them a little harder to control and prevent. Make sure you drink plenty of water, cleanse your skin every day and eat plenty of fruit, vegetables and good fats such as fish.
Cheeks – this is less common place and is usually down to clogged pores. As with any blemish try not to touch it, ensure you always have clean bedding and towels and clean your phone with anti-bacterial wipes (you’d be surprised how much bacteria is on your phone!)
It’s not always that simple to prevent breakouts but taking even small steps to combat the cause can only be beneficial for your skin and at least reduce the frequency! And, whilst you may not be able to achieve a blemish-free complexion all of the time, your trusty Magic Eraser (AmazingConcealer®) can certainly create that impression!
